How the effect of this expenditure on the educational attainment of those pupils at the school will be assessed

Reading is a key area on our school development plan and we have just introduced a new phonics scheme. Early assessments upon the children’s return in September, have shown that our children have regressed more in Reading than in Maths and therefore was the area that we decided to channel our Covid Catch up money into.


The impact of this input from additional phonics support in EYFS and KS1 can be clearly assessed in a formative and summative way through the use of the phonics screening data in Year 1 and 2 and through our regular in-school assessments. The Teach First Mentors will be based in KS2 and will support in the teaching of reading and with reading interventions. The impact of these will be assessed using our ongoing Star Reader Tests and AR quizzes and through the use of termly NTS assessments to assess progress.
