In the autumn term, all year groups completed an in-depth study of the six major religions. The children were given the opportunity to learn about the significant person / people, the sacred building, the holy book and the major festivals of one religion (see overview for each year groups religion). This study allowed the children to develop an understanding of what a religion believes; how they demonstrate their faith; what are the religious practises and key beliefs. The children produced work explaining the information that they learnt through a variety of writing and practical activities including handling the holy book or religious artefacts. Alongside this we had virtual visits from people of faith to explain the religious practises and to answer the children’s questions. Those children that follow a religion were particularly excited to have their peers learn about their religion and to share their own knowledge!
