Halloween Safety

Halloween safety

Walk together
Make sure to stay, at all times, with your group. It’s always best to be walking with an adult and to keep account of who else is around. It’s also more fun to share together.

Be seen: Light them up
The nights are getting darker earlier so, if going out, make sure they can be seen by others, especially drivers on the roads. A good tip is to wear a glow-stick bracelet or necklace.

To knock or not to knock?
Only knock on the doors of people that have decorated the fronts of their houses or have a pumpkin out the front. Remember not everyone celebrates halloween and not everyone likes to receive trick or treaters.

Plan your route
Stick to well lit areas and be extra cautious when crossing the roads - avoid alleyways and always walk with others - stay with your group, it’s safer!

Be polite - not too scary!
Some people may like to receive trick or treaters but remember some people might be easily frightened, especially if they are elderly, have young children or live on their own. And remember to be grateful for whatever you receive.

Keep your eyes peeled
Pay attention when walking past driveways to make sure cars aren’t pulling in or out.
Cross at a safe place along the road - walk, don't run!

Stranger Danger
Trick or treating should be fun - remember to only accept treats at the door. Never enter the homes of strangers, always stay outside with your familiar adult. Remember, children trick or treating should always be with an adult - not on their own.
