Friday is our Well Being Day, please see information on the board outside the nursery for further updates.

RECEPTION

In Reception this week the children are going to be finding out all about Chinese New Year, which started last week. They are going to be learning about the traditions and importance of the celebration. The children are also going to be taking part in this term's DT project - apparently Baby Bear needs a new chair because someone broke his other one and we are going to help him....!

YEAR 1

In Maths, we are continuing to look at measures. We are going to compare the weight of objects and solve addition and subtraction problems involving weight.

In English, we are going to look at the Legend of Finn McCool and the Giant's Causeway. We are going to roleplay the story to help us understand how they might feel. We are going to write main clauses using emotive language and conjunctions (and, because).

YEAR 2

Year 2 will continue our book Rainbow Bird in English and in Maths we are looking at money! In Geography, we are learning about the indigenous people of Australia and in Science we will be investigating materials.

YEAR 3

We are very excited to share a text with the rest of Key Stage Two in English this week! Our text is called 'Our Tower' and it will get us thinking about some important messages like; being grateful for the things that we have and how the measure of how beautiful something is depends on how a person looks at it. Within our writing, we will be using preposition adverbials. In maths. we will continue to look at fractions but will be moving on to equivalent fractions. Please remember to have your reading record signed each night and to practice your times tables.

YEAR 4

In Year 4 this week, we will be looking at statistics in Maths. We will be focusing on discrete and continuous data. The children will be interpreting the data to answer questions.

In English this week, we will be moving onto a new book 'Our Tower' which will be a whole Key Stage focus. Our skill focus this week will be apostrophes for possession.

DT Day:

If you have any spare shoe boxes or cereal boxes lying around, please can Year 4 have them for their DT day. We need enough for every child!

YEAR 5

This week in Year 5, we are starting our new school text! We will be using the book as inspiration for writing speech, focusing on improving our punctuation. In Maths, we are continuing on with fractions; we will be adding, subtracting and multiplying fractions. In Geography, we are learning all about Canda! We will also be starting our new, exciting DT project!

YEAR 6

This week, year six are starting their Mock SATs. On Tuesday, we will be taking our SPaG test and on Thursday will be our Reading test. We have been working hard in both of these areas. In PE (don't forget to wear PE kits on Wednesday too) we will be continuing to develop our netball skills.
