Developments in governance and leadership at Gray’s Farm and Royal Park Academies

You will all know that for nearly a year now, Miss Lynch has been Executive Head Teacher of our two schools, with Miss Furneaux and Mr Moss ably leading the work of their respective schools as our Associate Head Teachers.

The two schools and their staff members are working increasingly closely together, sharing good ideas and expertise to the benefit of our pupils, teachers and support staff.

After careful consideration, the individual governing bodies of Gray’s Farm and Royal Park agreed that we should build on this successful collaboration by forming a joint local governing body. This was formally agreed in the spring term and the first meeting of the new joint governing body was held earlier in this summer term. There will be parent governor and staff governor representation from each school on the joint governing body. We are clear about our commitment to ensuring the best possible outcomes for all the pupils in both schools. An agreed joint governance statement will be published on the web sites of both schools.

I should also tell you, in September, that Miss Lynch will be extending her Executive Head Teacher role to Napier Primary School in Gillingham. This is also a school within TKAT, (The Kemnal Academies Trust). As governors, we support her in this role and have every confidence in the leadership of our Associate Head Teachers.

At the moment, I am Chair of Governors for the new joint governing body and Mr Malcolm Fuller is Vice-Chair. We each are looking forward to our new roles and making a success of our new governance arrangements.

Yours sincerely

L Robins

Chair of Governors
