Year 6 - Chislehurst Caves

Chislehurstcaves

This term we have been learning about WWI and WWII and as they were used as shelters during the war, we shall be visiting Chislehurst Caves for our class trip.

The trip is confirmed for Thursday 2nd November and the children will get to experience what it would have been like to shelter from the bombing during WWII in the depths of the caves. The trip will take place during usual school hours so please drop your child off and collect them as normal.

The children will need to bring a packed lunch for the day, preferably in a plastic bag so that they can throw away their rubbish rather than have to carry items all day. If your child is entitled to free school meals, then we can provide them with a packed lunch. You will be provided with a separate slip for this so please fill out and return by Monday 30th October.

The cost of the trip is £4.00 – Payment and permission can be made via our online system, School Gateway. Please do not send in cash or cheques as these will be returned to you. The deadline for payment is Thursday 26th October. We request that the children bring no more than £3 spending money, in a named envelope or purse, which they can spend in the gift shop.

Children will need to wear full school uniform along with a waterproof coat.

We will need parent helpers from both classes so please speak to your child’s class teacher if you’re able to volunteer. Once again, thank you so much for all your support and we are all looking forward to a fantastic day out!
