Give a Gift and Light Up a Life Appeal

Salvationarmy

I am writing to you on behalf of one of our Year 5 pupils, Archie, who would like to do something to help children less fortunate than himself this Christmas.

I have been in contact with the Salvation Army who are once again running their ‘Give a Gift and Light Up a Life Appeal’ – This will aid children in the local area who would not have anything to open on Christmas morning without their help.

The appeal was a massive success last year and your generosity was overwhelming to say the least! This year we have been given free choice of age categories so will not be decorating a tree due to the amount of baubles we would have to create in such a short space of time. Instead, we are inviting you to select a gift for either a boy or girl aged between 0 and 16. We would like you to return any gifts to the school by the end of Thursday 30th November, as the Salvation Army are collecting any donations first thing Friday morning (1st December).

Whilst all donations are gratefully received, some guidelines have been set:

  • No second hand toys as for the majority of children, your gift will be their main present
  • No battery operated toys as parents cannot afford to replace the batteries when they run out
  • No clothes as sizing is not always accurate
  • Presents should be unwrapped for security reasons but can be given in an unsealed carrier or gift bag

Thank you in advance for your continued support.

Kind regards

Mrs Alves                              Archie
