This week at Gray's Farm



Next week in nursery we will be continuing our topic  on People who help us. On Tuesday we will be having a visit from a fire fighter, he will be bringing in his fire fighting equipment for the children to look at.

Cookery club will be on Thursday of this week, there is a green pig situated at the entrance of the nursery garden for your kind donations.


As this week is Maths Week across the school, we will be joining in and spending the week looking at different 2D and 3D shape.

In Literacy we will be writing about a different shape character every day, such as Mr or Miss Triangle. In Mathematics we will learn to use the correct terms to describe the properties of different shapes.

For our Topic work, we will make shapes with our bodies, create pictures and patterns with them, and go on shape hunts around our Outdoor Area. Remember that Monday afternoon, from 2:00pm onwards is Open Afternoon, and you are invited to come and share our work.


In English we will be reading, role playing and writing the story of The Three Billy Goats Gruff.

In Maths we will be looking at 2D and 3D shapes as part of Maths week!

Don’t forget our WOW day is on Wednesday 7th February and the children may dress up as a superhero if they so wish.


In Maths, we will be describing and sorting 2d shapes and looking at symmetry. In English, we are writing a newspaper report about a crime featured in 'Claude in the City'.

We are also making 3d models of the great fire of London on Wednesday and would appreciate any small to medium sized cardboard boxes you can donate!


Maths - we will be looking at the properties of 2D and 3D shapes.

English - we will continue reading the story 'Into the Woods' and we will be looking at how to write a recount in past tense.

Topic - creating our very own Venetian masks.

Not forgetting our WOW day which will be taking  place on Friday!


In Maths we are going to classify 3D shapes and identify lines of symmetry in 2D shapes.

In English we will be broadening our knowledge of Anthony Browne texts by reading Little Beauty. Throughout the week,  we will revisit how to construct a basic clause, before learning how to make suitable choices about which conjunctions to use when extending them.

Also we are having our WOW Day on Thursday, 8th February:

We are going to have a fun-filled day and the children are invited to dress up in colourful clothes.
We will be:

-creating a mask to wear in our Brazilian procession
-playing our decorated, homemade Maracas
-having dance lessons (Samba)
To make this day special, we are hoping that the children will be able to make fruit kebabs


In English, the children will be writing a biography about a person of their choice.

In maths, we are looking forward to shape week which will continue into fun shaped-themed activities in the afternoons.

In ICT, the children will be making music!


Year 6 will be looking at the features of myths in English and on Thursday we will be celebrating MFL with a French based WOW day
