School Closed - Thursday 1st March

Dear Parents/Carers,

As you are aware, Kent has been hit by some severe weather conditions this week. Whilst Orpington has not received as much snow as other areas, many of our staff travel from areas that have been severely affected including: Maidstone, Tonbridge, Farnborough and Dartford which makes their journeys to and from school treacherous.

Having looked at the Met Office weather forecast, more snow is expected for these areas of Kent and Orpington this evening and in the morning. With this in mind, we anticipate that many of our teachers will be unable to get into school tomorrow; hence it will be very difficult to cover classes. It also appears that more snow will arrive during school opening hours which may force a closure once the children have arrived. Potentially, this would prove very difficult for many families. With the safety of staff, parents and children in mind, we have made the difficult decision to keep the school closed tomorrow.

World Book Day will be postponed, but we will celebrate later this term.

To summarise, Gray’s Farm Primary Academy will be closed on Thursday 1st March.

We hope that this information will give you enough time to make plans for Thursday and apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause.

Thank you for your cooperation and patience in this matter.
