Give a Gift and Light Up a Life Appeal

We writing to you on behalf of one of our Year 4 pupils, Archie, who would like to do something to help children less fortunate than himself this Christmas.

We have been in contact with the Salvation Army who are once again running their ‘Give a Gift and Light Up a Life Appeal’ – This will aid children in the local area who would not have anything to open on Christmas morning without their help.

Archie and some of his class mates will be decorating a Christmas tree with the ages and genders of children who are in need this festive season. If you would like to choose one of these decorations and purchase a gift for a child, please come in to the school office and select a name from the gifting tree. We would like you to return any gifts to the school by the end of Friday 2nd December, as the Salvation Army are collecting any donations first thing Monday morning (5th December).

We are hoping to have the tree up in the foyer this week if you are interested in aiding this appeal. We will start off with 50 decorations (25 boys and 25 girls aged 7 to 11) and add more if necessary. Whilst all donations are gratefully received, some guidelines have been set:

  • No second hand toys as for the majority of children, your gift will be their main present
  • No battery operated toys as parents cannot afford to replace the batteries when they run out
  • No clothes as sizing is not always accurate
  • Presents should be unwrapped for security reasons but can be given in an unsealed carrier or gift bag
