This week at Gray's Farm

NURSERY

This week in nursery our new topic is about the story of the Rainbow Fish. The children will be talking and sharing ideas about different ways of being kind and helping each other. They will be experimenting and exploring colours, mixing light and dark shades. Finding out about fish, their habitat, what their skins look and feel like. They will have the opportunity to observe and paint a real  rainbow trout.

A reminder that our  Nursery Sports Day is Thursday 5th July 2018. So brush the dust off your trainers and have a fun day.

RECEPTION

We will be looking at Little Red Riding Hood for our last week on Fairy tales. We will be putting our story book language to the test by continuing to re tell  the story in our own words. On Tuesday we will be meeting our Year One teachers and TAs and having a taste of what the next academic year will bring. On Friday it will be the whole school Sport's Day, followed by a Family Picnic on the field. More details with timings to follow! Please send in a named water bottle, sunhat ana apply suncream to keep your child safe in the predicted continuing heatwave.

YEAR 1

In Maths we are telling the time to o’clock, half past and quarter past/quarter to.

In English we will be beginning a new topic on the Queen, and reading the picture book ‘The Queens Handbag’ which will inspire our writing.

If possible, please send in a shoebox/cardboard box for your child to make a farm as part of our ‘Farm Animals’ topic, or anything else you may have that may help them to make a farm e.g straw, lollisticks, cardboard etc

YEAR 2

Next week is our very exciting trip to the Sea Life Centre! We are going to be writing about how to save our oceans in English to prepare for this and in maths, we will be calculating with money.

YEAR 3

English: We will be writing a recount on our trip

Maths: We will be continuing our learning on fractions and be beginning a new topic on angles

YEAR 4

English: We will be using fronted adverbials and descriptive language to write narratives and a non-narrative missing poster.

Maths: We will be focusing on geometry this week, looking at symmetry, coordinates and problem solving.

We also have our Viking workshop on Monday next week (9th July) so payment needs to be made via the gateway by Monday 2nd July.

YEAR 5

In English, we will be revising our reading and SPaG skills.

In maths, we will be looking at reading and creating different types of graphs.

In topic, we will start to make our junk model trains!
 

YEAR 6

In year 6 we will be practising our singing skills and rehearsing for our performance. We are also looking forward to showing off our sporting achievements during Sports Day.
