Week Beginning: 03 December 2018

NURSERY

As we are fast approaching Christmas our new story will be called  "A letter to Santa" Children will be involved in making lists and writing to Santa, through drawing and cutting activities.

We shall be wrapping presents and using scales to weigh which ones are heavy or light.

We will be talking about the importance of Christmas by sharing and spending quality time with our friends and family.

Please check on the board outside the nursery for daily updates.

Thank you for your support.

RECEPTION

This week we are beginning phase 3 in phonics! The children will be introduced to graphemes- where two or 3 letters together make a specific sound!

We will also continue to learn our tricky words!

In reception, we are always practicing how to write our letters and our names! Maybe you could ask your child what letters they know and see how well they have progressed with writing their name!

In maths, we will be looking at new shapes and taking a closer look at 2d and 3d shapes.

As Christmas draws nearer, we will be starting our new book- 'The Jolly Christmas Postman!' Our English writing will be based on this!

YEAR 1

In English we will be writing stories, focussing on correctly punctuated main clauses.

In Maths we will be revising work covered so far and continuing to count in 2s, 5s and 10s.

YEAR 3

In English, we are going to write a non-narrative piece (instruction), using our organisational skills.

In Maths, we are going to measure the perimeter of simple and irregular 2D shapes. Also, it will be time to learn our 9x tables.

YEAR 4

In English we are continuing to develop our skills in narrative writing.

In Maths we will be learning how to classify shapes based on their individual criteria and how to identify angles.

YEAR 5

In English, we will be looking at fronted adverbials to improve the detail and structure of our sentences.
