Week Beginning: 10 December 2018

NURSERY

As we are fast approaching the festive season we will be continuing  our story on "A letter for Santa".

A post box is now available for Christmas cards and Santa's workshop is very busy as the children are helping Santa to make toys.

The children will be singing festive songs to the reception children. We will of course video this and put our nursery children's performance on tapestry for your enjoyment.

A letter will go out soon regarding the children's Christmas Party.

We thank you for your amazing support.

RECEPTION

This week in Reception we are looking forward to showing off our singing and dancing skills to the parents in our Nativity play! We invite the Reception parents to come and see the Nativity on Wednesday 12th at 2pm!

This week we are learning the letters x, y, z and zz! We will be learning the sounds, actions and trying to read and write words with those sounds in!

In maths we will be securing our number recognition for numbers 10-15! See if your child can spot numbers out and about above 10!

Please continue to check our Tapestry and see what your little ones are getting up to in class! Don't forget that you can also put up anything that you've been doing at home with your child! We enjoy looking at all about the amazing things you do with them!

YEAR 1

In Maths we will be counting in 2s, 5s and 10s.

In English we will be writing main clauses beginning with a capital letter and ending with an end mark. We will also be checking that our writing makes sense.

YEAR 2

Next week, year 2 are reading scales in maths so being able to count up and back in 2s, 5s and 10s is especially important next week! We are starting our new book ‘ When the Grinch Stole Christmas’ and looking at rhythm and rhyme. We can’t wait to show you how hard we have been working on our Nativity ‘Whoops a Daisy Angel’!

YEAR 3

In English, we are going to look at non-chronological reports and write our own leaflet about our Science topic 'Rocks, Soil and Fossils'.

In Maths, we are going to study Geometry.

YEAR 4

In English we are writing a narrative and working on using conjunctions in the correct place.

Maths -  We shall be revising topics that we have learnt this term.

YEAR 5

In English, we will be basing our learning around ‘A Christmas Carol’ to get us in the festive mood!

In maths, we look at measuring and drawing angles using a protractor.

YEAR 6

This week is practise SATs week for Year 6. The children will be visiting Cleeve Park to watch their performance of 'The little Shop of Horrors'.
