This week at Gray's Farm - WB 04/03

Week Beginning: 04 March 2019

NURSERY

The children will continue their theme on healthy eating dental care.

We shall be having a visit from Bromley Dental Care to talk to the children on Wednesday 6th March at 11am for the morning children and Thursday 14th March at 2.30pm for the afternoon children about the best way to take care of their teeth.


A reminder that our World Book Day is on Friday 8th March, so get creative, there will be a prize for the best home made costume.

As always,  please continue to "like, comment or add observations" on tapestry so we can share them with their friends.

RECEPTION

This week in Reception we are continuing with our Jungle theme and exploring baby animals that live in the wild.We will be getting some very little visitors in our classes and we are sure the children will share that with you!

In Phonics we are completing phase 3 sounds and we will be doing an assessment on where the children are at.

In Maths we will be working on addition and subtraction and trying to use the signs more.

This week is parents evening, Tuesday and Wednesday! If you haven't gotten an appointment yet, please speak to your Childs' teacher!

On Friday 8th March, it is World Book Day, the children are invited to come in as their favourite book character!

YEAR 1

This week we are thinking about different characters in books, and making up sentences about them using words with the prefix un. In maths we are working on rapid recall of our number bonds, and their related facts.In science we are learning about growing plants.

YEAR 2

In Maths, year 2 are adding and subtracting 2digit numbers using dienes. Once we've mastered this, we will be moving on to the expanded method! We will be continuing our class book, Man on the Moon, and composing poetry about space.

YEAR 3

In English, we are going to extend a main clause with a subordinate clause while writing a character profile and a diary entry.

In Maths, we are going to add and subtract 2 digit numbers using the expanded column method, including regrouping.

YEAR 4

In maths, we will be working on the four operations using the formal written method.
In English, we will be looking at direct and reported speech and newspaper reports.
In Science, our new subject is ‘Habitats’.
We are looking forward to World Book Day on Friday!

YEAR 5

In English, we will be looking at how to use more complex conjunctions as openers and writing a newspaper report.

In maths, we revise methods for addition, subtraction, multiplication and division moving to doing these with decimal numbers.

We are also looking forward to World Book Day on Friday!

YEAR 6

This week in Year 6, we will writing an explanation text in English and we are looking forward to sharing a pirate book on World Book Day.
