Week Beginning: 23 April 2019

NURSERY

Welcome back, we hope you have had an amazing few weeks. Our new topic is based around the story of "The dinosaur that lost its roar" we shall be exploring different dinosaurs, how they used to live and what we know about them.

If anyone has visited any interesting dinosaurs adventures please put on tapestry to share.

RECEPTION

Welcome back to Reception! We hope you had a restful but enjoyable Easter break!

The children return back to us and will be setting off to the moon as we learn all about space this term!
 
We will be doing the book ‘Whatever Next’.

This term we will be doing a strong focus on different types writing, for example: story writing, lists, letter and instructions.
We aim to have the children using their phonics much more confidently to form sentences.

In Maths, we will be securing our knowledge of addition and subtraction as well as doubling and halving!

The children will also be exploring shapes throughout their learning activities.

YEAR 1

In Maths we will be counting money in steps of 2s, 5s and 10s, and solving problems.

In English our theme is The Seaside and we will be listening to the story of The Lighthouse Keeper's Lunch. In our writing will be consolidating our knowledge of  plurals.

YEAR 2

This week we will be starting our new topic, The Victorians! The children will be researching and finding out what life was like for a Victorian child. In Maths, we will be estimating calculations, using our place value knowledge.

YEAR 3

In Maths, we are going to order and compare numbers up to 1000. Towards the end of the week, we are going to compare duration of events.

In English, we are going to apply all the skills taught last term in our writing.

YEAR 4

This week we will be working on our English Writing Skills.

In maths, we will be concentrating on positive and negative numbers.

YEAR 5

Year 5 will be revisiting place value, focusing on multiplying and dividing by 10,100 and 1000 along with using our related number facts to support us in our learning.

In English we are looking at how to create a good descriptive setting around our new class book.

YEAR 6

This week in Year 6, we will investigate how light travels in science and will be researching in more depth about the Shang Dynasty. In English, we will be continuing to focus on our vocabulary choice to create impact.
