Week Beginning: 17 June 2019

NURSERY

This week we shall be continuing our theme on transport. The children have enjoyed sharing their experiences about their day trip sand holidays. Please continue to put them on tapestry so we may share them.

May we draw your attention to the two boards outside the nursery, that have daily and weekly events that the children will be involved in.

Please can you check your child's bag daily, as some party invitations and letters have gone home which have not been responded to. Thank you for your support.

RECEPTION

This week in Reception we will be starting our new topic about Superheroes! We will be reading the book Superworm and learning about what makes a real superhero!

We are encouraging the children to read using their sight supported by their phonetic knowledge. This is to try to increase their fluency and comprehension of what they are reading.

On Tuesday 18th June, we have a picnic on the school field! Parents and carers are invited to come along and enjoy an afternoon with the children! This will begin at 2.30pm. Don't worry about bringing any snacks, this will be provided!

YEAR 1

In Maths the children will be consolidating their knowledge of division and multiplication.

They will be solving real life problems involving grouping and sharing objects,  eg ’How many groups of 2 are there in 12?’

In English we will be recapping using conjunctions such as ’and’, ‘but’ and ‘because’.

We will also be working on suffixes such as ‘est’ and ‘er’.

YEAR 2

In English next week, we will be starting a new book and writing a diary in role as one of the characters, using our conjunction knowledge.

In Maths next week, we will be doing addition and subtraction, which will led on to word problems and crossing into the next multiple of 10.

YEAR 3

In Maths, we are going to revise how to measure, compare, add and subtract lengths, weights and capacity.

In English, we are going to use a range of language features to describe a character, a setting and a plot.

YEAR 4

YEAR 5

In English, we will be continuing work around our short clip 'The Robot and the Butterfly' focusing on speech to convey a character. This will support the children at the end of the week when they are to write a narrative.

In Maths, we will be having a huge focus on telling the time. We will also be re-visiting Fractions, Decimals and Percentages, to ensure all elements are covered.

In Science we will be doing an investigation linking the improvement of times tables with exercise.

YEAR 6

This week in Year 6, we will be learning more about crime and punishment and how this has changed throughout history. We will begin to learn our lines for our production.
