This week at Gray's Farm - WB 24/06

Week Beginning: 24 June 2019

NURSERY

Based on the interest of the children, we shall now be exploring mini beasts. Their habitat, what they eat and what benefits they may have to the environment.

Throughout the coming week the children will be practising for our Sports day on 10th July 2019.

A reminder again to check your child's bag regularly for information and letters of up coming events.

RECEPTION

This week in Reception, we are taking a little detour from Superheroes and exploring the world of mini beasts. This links with our book Superworm. We will be learning about different types of insects, how they survive in the wild and why they are important in nature.

In maths we are practicing counting in 2s, 5s and 10s and learning the pattern behind the adding in a certain amount of numbers.

This week, we have our fun day on Tuesday, children are allowed to bring in money, however if we could politely request that money is brought in a named purse, wallet of envelope.

YEAR 1

In Maths we will be revising finding halves and quarters of objects and amounts.
In English we will be will be making posters that give information.

YEAR 2

In English next week, we will be focusing on suffixes (spellings for homework) to add extra detail into our letter writing.

In Maths next week, we will be using the bar model to solve multiplication and division number sentences and word problems.

YEAR 3

In Maths, we are going to revise fractions, geometry and statistics.

In English, we are going to write a recount organising our ideas into paragraphs.

YEAR 4

In Maths : We are focusing on fractions of amounts, ordering decimal numbers and the translation of shapes.

In English:  We will be re-visiting some of our key spelling words and learning the rules of how to apply suffixes to root words before applying them to our writing.

YEAR 5

In English we will be finishing work around the short clip 'The Robot and the Butterfly'

In Maths we will be continuing our work on fractions by looking at dividing fractions.

Our caterpillars have formed a chrysalis and have been moved into their butterfly garden.

Thursday is our steam train school trip.

YEAR 6

This week in Year 6, we are excited because rehearsals for our production begin on the stage. In English, we will be writing the recount of a criminal sentenced to transportation.
