This week at Gray's Farm - WB 08/07

Week Beginning: 08 July 2019

NURSERY

This week the children will be consolidating their learning and looking at shape, number and phase 2 letter sounds  S, A , T, P I N. 
This will be the main focus until the end of the term. Please see notice board outside the nursery for daily updates and things you can do at home to support your children as they begin to transition to reception class.  

RECEPTION

Next week in Reception we will be meeting a super villain- 'Evil Pea'. He is the villain who tries to stop all of Supertatos good work, so we will be trying to find lots of different ways to stop the Evil Pea! On Wednesday we will have having a transition afternoon with our new class in year one.

On Thursday, it is Sports day! It will being at 9.30 and end at 12.10. The children will be on the field. Can we please ask parents to ensure the children come in with hat, water bottle and please apply sun cream before they come in!

YEAR 1

In English this week, we are continuing to recap all taught skills such as punctuation, un prefix,  conjunctions and -ed suffix. Our spellings will remain the same until the end of term, as they are a link to Year Two learning.

In maths we will be consolidating our knowledge of + and - by solving money problems including finding change.

YEAR 2

This week, Year 2 will be learning about the similarities and differences between turtles and tortoises! We will use our research to write comparative texts about the animals. In maths, we will be calculating with money and thinking about the coins and notes that can be used to make different amounts and give change.

YEAR 3

In Maths, we are going to use grid method to multiply and chunking to divide.

In English, we are going to work on using speech in our writing.

YEAR 4

In English we will be focussing on adverbs and our punctuation skills.

In Maths are learning to read co-ordinates.

YEAR 5

Year 5 will be using all of our writing skills to write a letter about our science experiments this half term, and a narrative based on a picture. In Maths, we are recapping all of this year's new learning, including  percentages and fractions.

We are continuing our topic about the Victorian steam trains and are looking forward to sports day on Friday

YEAR 6

This week in Year 6, we will be rehearsing our production on the stage and we are looking forward to sports day
