Week Beginning: 09 September 2019

NURSERY

We are pleased to see our older nursery children back to school and they are doing a fantastic job at helping to settle our new children.

This week we will continue to settle more children into nursery and making new friendship groups.

All parents by now will have received a link to tapestry, your child’s online learning journal, please follow the link and create your own password to access all the wonderful things your child will be doing at nursery.

Please ensure you check boards outside the nursery gate and inside the nursery garden at the entrance to nursery for daily and weekly updates as well as the app.

Any questions please speak to one our nursery Early Years Team.

RECEPTION

We are so pleased to have welcomed all of our new reception children to Grays Farm. The children have done very well at adapting to a new class and routine. This week we will be continuing the learn about the rules, and the different staff in school and their roles and talking about ourselves.

On Friday your child received their reading record and first book which they should have bought home. Please encourage your child to read daily and read with them.
We would like to kindly ask that parents try their best to leave their children at the Reception gate in the mornings so that the children get used to coming into school and hanging up their belongings independently.

If anyone has any concerns or questions please do speak to one of the team.

YEAR 2

To start with Miss Wallington and Mrs Burgham would like to say a big well done to the children for settling in so well into year two! We have been very impressed with the amount of reading taking place at home already, but would like to remind you that children should be reading 4 times (or more) a week! Our PE days are Monday afternoon and Thursday morning and homework will be handed out each Friday and to be returned the following Thursday.

Next week in English, we will be editing and improving our work by adding adjectives (describing words) to our nouns within our main clauses. In Maths next week, we will be looking at partitioning numbers into different ways, using our 10s and 1s.

In English we are learning how to use a main clause.

In Maths Year 3 will be comparing and ordering numbers, using more than, less than symbols and identify, represent and estimate numbers using different representations.
