SCHOOL STATEMENT: Enforced closure from next week

Graysgenerictwitter

Dear Parents/Carers,

As I am sure most of you have seen, the government has announced that school will close, for almost all children, at the end of the school day on Friday 20th March until further notice. We understand that whilst not entirely surprising, this news brings with it some further worries about the lack of certainty over the coming weeks and months. As a school, we will do our best to support you and your children through the challenges that lie ahead.

Every child in school on Friday will be sent home with an exercise book and a pencil to allow them to continue their studies at home. On the website, we will upload a series of useful links for each year group for activities that can be done online and some that can be printed and done at home. We will also try to update the website regularly with additional challenges for the children to complete, so please do check in on there and our facebook page regularly. Every child will be sent home with at least one reading book and we would encourage them to read as much as possible during the period of school closure. We will also prepare some basic packs of work for your child to complete at home along with a project linked to their topic.

If your child is self-isolating and you wish to collect their work before Friday, please just call the office and let them know which year group so that we can get it ready for you. If you believe that your child may be one of the small number of children who will still be attending school, we will be in touch tomorrow.

We recognise that the coming weeks and potentially months will be challenging for everyone and wish you and your family all of the best – stay at home, stay safe and we look forward to welcoming you back when all of this is over.

Best wishes,

Nicola Furneaux
