Early Closure - End of Term

Christmas

You may have seen the recent Government announcement that schools will have an additional closure day on Friday 18th December. The Government have made this decision because staff may need to continue to work in the first week of the Christmas holidays to support track and trace.

I can confirm that the school will be closed to children on this day and our last day will be Thursday 17th December.  We apologise for the late notice and any inconvenience that this may cause but we have only just been informed by the Government. We intend to keep the arrangements for Thursday the same (as they would have been on Friday) with an early finish and staggered collection times as below:

Year Group

Finishing Time

Reception

1pm

Year 1

1:05pm

Year 2

1:10pm

Year 3

1:15pm

Year 4

1:20pm

Year 5

1:25pm

Year 6

1:30pm

As the school is closing early, Footscray Out of School Club will not be operating in the afternoon, so you may require an alternative childcare provision. A separate letter will follow regarding arrangements for our Nursery.

What if my child tests positive over the Christmas period?

We hope everyone will have a safe and happy Christmas however if your child develops symptoms and is tested positive for COVID-19 over the Christmas holidays, the Government have issued clear guidance about when you should inform the school and when this can be managed by NHS Test & Trace.

Who should I contact? (NOT THE USUAL CONTACT DETAILS)

[If your child has symptoms either on Friday 18th or Saturday 19th then tests positive for COVID-19 on or before Wednesday 23rd December, please contact TKAT Centre  between 10:00 and 14:00 by either phoning  07841 967 584  or emailing to covid@tkat.org.

When you make contact please be sure to tell us your child’s name, Year group, when they first developed symptoms and the date you received confirmation.

When you should not contact the school:

If your child has developed symptoms after Saturday 19th December or more than 48 hours after they were last in school. In this instance, please contact NHS Test & Trace.

If your child has a positive test result which returns after Wednesday 23rd December. In this instance, please contact NHS Test & Trace.

If any of our bubbles are affected and as a result, your child needs to self-isolate, we will contact you via email so please make sure that we have the most up-to-date email address.

Thank you so much for your support during this really difficult term. It has certainly been a very different one and despite the challenges that it has presented, I am pleased to say that staff, children and parents have responded brilliantly. We have had some great feedback from our remote learning and have been able to offer devices to those who have needed them. I would like to say a particular thank you to the staff who have all learned new ways of working and kept the school a happy and welcoming place for your children to be.

I wish you all a safe and happy Christmas with hopefully some time for some well-earned rest and some special time with your families.

Kind regards,

Nicola Furneaux
