This week at Gray's Farm - W/B 22/03

Week Beginning: 22 March 2021

NURSERY

In nursery we shall continue with our Story Jack and the Beanstalk, we will be concentrating on numbers recognising and ordering them and familiarising ourselves on what beans/ seeds need to grow. 

In Forest School this week we shall be making Nature  Easter eggs using all natural resources. Please continue to check and post your child’s work on tapestry, we would love to see them.

RECEPTION

This week in reception we are continuing to learn about dinosaurs. We will be writing our own ‘non fiction’ books about them and learning about palaeontologists and their job by studying fossils. In Maths we will be revising 2D shapes and beginning work on 3D shapes.  

YEAR 1

In English we will be writing poetry.

In Maths we will be adding coins and making amounts with coins.

YEAR 2

This week in English, we will be having a focus on our History topic nurses. We will be looking at Mary Seacole and Florence Nightingale and we will be making comparisons on what was similar / different about them.

 

This week in Maths, we will be looking at statistics. We will be collecting data using a tally chart and using our data to put into pictograms and bar charts. 

YEAR 3

This week in Maths Year 3 are working on adding and subtracting fractions.

In English we are looking at non-fiction and to tie in with our History topic we shall be investigating Skara Brae.

YEAR 4

In maths this week in year 4 will be interpreting data using bar and line graphs and tables.  In english we will be focusing on practising our skills ro write at length.  For our science, we will be continuing on with our investigations into sound.

YEAR 5

This week in Year 5, we are delving deeper into the life of a Viking, learning about their battles, their funerals and even their heaven.

In maths, we are converting units of measure, calculating time intervals and interpreting timetables. In science, we are continuing with our topic, Animals, Including humans.

YEAR 6

In Year six, we will be writing in role as an evacuee child  and learning about the Blitz

In Science, we will be looking at the components of blood.
