Week Beginning: 19 July 2021

NURSERY

As this week comes to a close and we say a sad farewell to our children who will soon be on their journey to Reception class, we would like to use this week to play some fun team building games that involve problem solving, negotiating, turn taking and teamwork.

A reminder that ALL children will take part in the Graduation ceremony, letters were sent out last week with what to expect. Please keep an eye open towards the end of the week on tapestry for something special

RECEPTION

This week, in Literacy we are continuing our topic learning all about castle and knights and will be creating fact files. In Maths, we will be using our maths skills and applying them to different maths challenges that are set up in the classroom.

YEAR 1

This week we are writing letters to the England squad, making snakes and ladders games to play and solving other maths challenges. We would really like to take this opportunity to thank you for the privilege of working with your children this year, and say a massive thank you to you all for your continued support in a challenging year! Have a great, happy and healthy Summer break!

YEAR 2

This is our last week of Year 2! We are doing some exciting writing and maths activities in the mornings and in the afternoon, we have some fun activities planned!

Your children's books will be going home on Tuesday so please bring in a carrier bag for these.

There is no PE on Wednesday this week.

Thank you for all your support during this unusual year. We have still managed to have a brilliant time with our Year 2. We wish them the best of luck next year.

YEAR 3

In Year 3 this week we are creating a game involving magnets to link with our recent learning in science on forces and magnets. We will be planning our ideas, writing the design, creating the game, writing instructions on how to play it and finally creating persuasive television adverts to sell our games.

YEAR 4

This week we will be having some fun with our Maths and English!

We will be using our knowledge of the four main operations to crack codes and solve puzzles.

In English we will be writing our own stories and presenting them in our own  individual story book or comic strip styles. We will also be producing our own crosswords and wordsearches using the year 4 common exception words we have been learning throughout the year.

YEAR 5

This week in Year 5, we will be finishing our work around the book 'Street Child', using drama to empathise with Jim and Shrimp and writing in the role of Barney after discovering the plight of street children. In maths, we are showcasing our amazing skills by solving a variety of problems using all four operations. In history, we will be looking at how the British Empire shaped our country during and beyond the Victorian times.
