Week Beginning: 13th December 2021
This week in nursery we shall be continuing with our story topic and looking at different ways over the festive period that we show kindness to each other.
Wednesday is our Arts and Crafts and Christmas jumper day and Thursday is the children’s Christmas party.
Please see notice board outside nursery gate for details.
In Reception this week the children will be looking at the Christmas story. They will be making Christmas cards and having a class party on the afternoon of Thursday 16th December. Please DO NOT send in any food for the party - food will be provided. They do NOT need to bring a change of clothes as we will be staying in our uniform.
In Maths, we will be playing Christmas games and practising all of the number skills that we have learnt this term.
In English, we are going to design our favourite toy and describe it using main clause sentences. As our Science topic was all about materials, we are going to include the properties of materials in our writing too.
In Maths, we are going to revisit previous areas, such as adding, subtracting and grouping objects into 2s.
A gentle reminder, school closes early on Friday 17th December at 1:15pm.

We can't quite believe it's our final week before we break up!
This week in Writing, we will be focusing on our Curriculum Writing that we have been learning about this half term. For our History writing, we will be recapping on the explorers we have been learning about and looking at the similarities and differences. In our Science writing, we will writing animal fact files linked to our previous learning/ key words.
This week in Maths, we will be recapping on our previously taught methods while having a fun Christmas theme throughout the week.

This week in Year 3 we will be looking at the John Lewis advert in English and practising using conjunctions within our writing. In maths we will be using all of the skills we have learnt this term to answer a range of christmassy word problems.
In maths this week we will be revisiting equivalent fractions and working on time conversion. In English, we will be retelling a narrative using the story of Edgar the Dragon.
This week in Year 5, we will be writing about the adventures of our naughty class elves in English. In maths, we are consolidating and applying our learning. We will be identifying the operation, choosing the strategy required and solving a number of Christmas problems. We are excited to show our learning in science but creating a double page spread about forces.
In English, we will be using subordinating conjunctions and clauses in our writing and considering our choice of punctuation.
In Maths, we will be covering arithmetic skills.
In Art, we will be using a range of pencils skills to sketch and shade.
