Meet the Governors

Lesley Robins (Chair of Governors)

Lesley is retired. Her career was in education. She was Head Teacher of two schools, Local Authority Adviser for primary schools, then became Principal Adviser. She was also an Ofsted inspector, leading inspections of schools all over the country. After retirement, she spent some years as an education consultant, working for various local authorities. Until recently, she was a JP, sitting on benches in Woolwich, Greenwich, Bexley and Bromley Magistrates' Courts.  She is also Chair of Governors at Welling Academy.

Malcolm fuller

Malcolm Fuller (Vice Chair of Governors)

I am a Community Governor and have been involved with Gray's Farm since September 2014. I am now retired, but prior to that I was a public servant for over 40 years. Over this lengthy career I gained extensive experience and knowledge of the workings and operational requirements of a large and complex organisations through performing a variety of operational and support functions. My experience encompassed Contract Management, Resources and Facilities Management, Strategic Planning and Performance Management. As a local resident I am committed to ensuring that Gray's Farm provides excellent learning opportunities to every pupil within the school and gives them best possible start in life with a great education, in a happy school community.

Nicola abrahams

Nicola Furneaux (Headteacher)

I have worked in education for over 14 years and have always been passionate about getting the very best for the children in my care.  I have worked within Kent, Bromley and Manchester in a variety of leadership roles, including supporting schools across the south-east as an advisory teacher, before coming to Gray's Farm. Having worked here for the last 2 and a half years, I know that Gray's Farm is a great place to be and that the role of the governors is crucial to the success of the school. I am delighted that we have a newly-formed governing body and look forward to working with them as the school goes from strength to strength.

Rachel cushing

Rachel Cushing (Staff Governor)

I have been teaching in Year 6 at Gray's Farm Primary since my NQT year in 2012 and am now leader of Science. Before becoming a teacher, I worked in the media industry at a post-production facility where I met my husband. Having been part of Gray's Farm through its transition from school to academy and on its journey to becoming the outstanding school it deserves to be, I am looking forward to contributing further to the school and ensuring children - and staff - are happy and safe.

Claire LAST

Claire Last (Appointed Parent Governor)

I am a housewife and have two children.  My youngest currently attends Gray's Farm Academy and my eldest went to Gray's Farm for the duration of her primary education.  I am a Parent Governor and am keen to support the Head of School and staff to bring out the best in every child at the school.  I have been an active member of the PTA Committee for many years and also the newly formed Parents Forum.

Paul Humphreys

Paul Humfryes (Co-opted Governor)

I became a co-opted governor at Royal Park in March 2014. My first career was in the City as a Chartered Accountant, advising various corporate clients. I then joined the Civil Service, where I worked with various education ministers on subjects ranging from further education to child safeguarding, and a great deal besides. I’m particularly interested in inclusion and achievement issues, high expectations for all our children, and enrichment activities of all kinds. I currently serve as our link governor for the Pupil Premium.

I live in Bromley, and my three (now adult) children went to a local primary school; my wife used to teach in Lewisham. In my spare time, I’m a keen tennis player –proving that effort and aspiration can overcome all sorts of obstacles!

Mrs C Thompson

Carol Thomas (Clerk to the Governors)

My name is Carol Thomas and I am the Clerk to the Governors at Grays Farm and Royal Park Primary Academies. I was a School Governor myself for more than 12 years when my own children, (now 23 & 19)     were at Primary School, as well as being Chair of the PTA raising much needed funds for the school. I enjoyed being a School Governor and being part of the school community. As a Governor I served on the Curriculum, the Finance and the Premises Committees and remember warmly visiting school and meeting the children. I am passionate about education and enjoy working with good schools like Grays Farm and Royal Park where children’s learning is embraced. Before I had my children I worked in the City of London in the foreign exchange markets and after a career break, I worked as PA to the Manager of the Local Children’s Services Partnership. I am now an Independent Governors Clerk and enjoying being part of the Governance team at Grays Farm and  Royal Park.
