Week Beginning: 10th June 2024
NURSERY
This week in nursery our topic will be Rivers and Streams and discussing why rivers are important to us ,plants and animals.
We will be reading “The River” which also helps children develop an understanding of their ever-changing emotions.
In maths we will be continuing to look at 3D shapes and number naming 1-10.
RECEPTION
Our journey in Reception continues with Life in another country, so this week we shall be exploring more about it and designing our own African jewelry and musical instruments .
In maths we will be looking at halving using objects in and around school. Please ensure you continue to read daily with your child especially during the summer holidays. For further updates please see the board located out Reception Class outdoor area.
YEAR 1
Year 1 will be starting the book 'The Paper bag Princess'. We will be making Missing posters and using nouns and adjectives to write a letter to help rescue the Prince. In Maths we are consolidating our learning on addition and subtraction and using our knowledge to solve word problems. In History we will be learning about the Royal Family and our Prime Minister.
YEAR 2
Year 2 are going to be revisiting adding and subtracting using the expanded column method and in English, we will be starting a new book all about dragons! In Science. We are learning about hygiene and in History we are learning about the history of Eltham Palace.
YEAR 3
This week in English we are writing a setting description based on our new book 'Space Band'. In maths we are recapping our knowledge of place value by multiplying by 10 and 100 and solving place value word problems. We are also very excited to be going on our trip to Knole Park which will be taking place on Monday.
YEAR 4
This week in English, we will be using our conjunction skills to write about the Gunpowder Plot.
This week in Maths, we will be recapping on our calculation methods.
YEAR 5
This week in Year 5, we will be practising our arithmetic skills and applying them to real-life problems. In English, we are consolidating our understanding of paragraphs; when to use them and how to use cohesive devices to link them. In History, we will be analysing images from the Victorian period and we are very excited to be visiting the Greenwich observatory to support our science learning.
YEAR 6
This week, we will be identifying the different layers of the rainforest and the importance these layers have on the environment. In science, we will be learning about the importance of our heart and how it functions. During English, we will be imagining that we are an abandoned plastic bottle and writing a diary entry hoping to be saved.
