Nursery

This week, our nursery will be celebrating Chinese New Year! As we welcome the Year of the Fire Horse, the children will explore new cultures through sensory play and hands-on Culinary Discovery, A special tasting session where children can enjoy delicious noodles.Fine Motor Challenges, We’ll be putting our coordination to the test as we learn the art of using chopsticks!

Reception

In Reception Class this week we will continue to celebrate Chinese New Year. Just like our New Year, it's a time to say goodbye to the old year and hello to the new one. The children will be making red envelopes as red is a lucky colour.During the week the children will be sampling noodles and rice using chopsticks.

In maths we shall be exploring grouping and sharing.

Year 1

This week, in Maths, we will be grouping objects into 2s, 5s and 10s using manipulatives in order to count efficiently.  In English, we will be retelling the story of the Dragons, using our skills such as adjectives and nouns as well as including emotive language.  
Please remember to sign your children's Reading Records everyday.  Home work goes home Friday and should be returned the following Thursday.  Phonics books will be changed on Thursday.  PE days are Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Year 2

In English, we'll be retelling the story of 'Possum Magic' and making sure we use all of our Year 2 skills. In Maths, we'll be moving on to shape.

Year 3

In English, we are going to write our own fairy tales using all the skills that we have learnt in this term.

In Maths, we are going to look at Geometry- comparing and sorting 3D shapes, looking at their properties and looking at turns.

Year 4

This week, year 4 are going to be continuing their work on writing speech, focussing on ensuring our punctuation is accurate and aiming to use a variety of synonyms for said. In maths, we are continuing to practice the formal method for short division, building up to being able to divide a 3-digit number by a 1-digit number.

Year 5

This week in Year 5, we are reading and interpreting bar charts, line graphs and pie charts. We will identify the different purposes of these graphs and will be creating our own data set to represent our science data. 

In English, we will be fine tuning our grammar and punctuation by looking at tense, commas to mark clauses and the subject/verb agreement.  

Year 6

This week we will eb looking at instruction check working our use of bullet points, colons, dashes and imperative verbs. In DT we will be making shelters for refugees.
