This week at Gray's Farm - W/B 15th June

Week beginning: 15th June
Nursery
In nursery we are exploring nature, habitats, and how animals move this week! Our focus is on helping children understand the difference between land animals, sea animals, and the amazing creatures that bridge both worlds. We will be reading the bookS "The snail and the whale" and "Tidddler" by Julia Donaldson.
Reception
This week in Reception we will continue to look at Life in another country by looking at similarities and differences between the lives of people in Africa and the lives of living here. This will help to support understanding of the wider world.
In maths we will be exploring the value of coins and the combination of coins for a given total up to 10p and 20p and to give change from ten pence.
Please ensure you practise letter formation at home in preparation for the children moving up to year 1. Thank you for your support.
Year 1
This week in English, Year 1 will be retelling the story of The Paperbag Princess using their planning from last week. The focus of their writing will be verbs, adjectives and writing about emotions. In Maths, Year 1 will be solving problems involving length and weight. PE days are Tuesday and Wednesday, PE kits to be worn on Friday for sports day. Phonics books will be changed on Thursday.

Year 2
In English we are introducing and using the 'if' conjunction. In Maths we will be looking at Place Value and Estimating amounts.
Reminder that PE days are Wednesday and Thursday.
Year 3
In English, we are going write a narrative using subordinating conjunctions and noun phrases.
In Maths, we are going to look at the most efficient methods to multiply and divide two digit numbers with a one digit number.
Year 4
Next week, year 4 are going to be writing fairytales. We will be looking at and learning about the features of fairytales and applying all of our learning about expanded noun phrases, suffixes and adverbials to write gripping narratives. In maths, Miss Wigfield's maths group are going to be learning about factors and multiples; and will be learning about different graphs and charts used to present data. Mrs O'Brien's will be continuing with their geometry learning.
Year 5
This week in Year 5, we are using our multiplication facts to support our division and calculations involving fractions. In English, we are continuing our work around our new class book, focusing on informal letter writing.
Year 6
This week in year six, we will be learning about the suffragette movement and the impact that it has on the way women in Britain are treated today. We will also be continuing our investigation into different famous scientists.
