Week beginning: 19th May
Nursery
This week in nursery we will be reading the book “You can’t take an elephant on the bus” and planning a journey, thinking about how we would get there, bus car or boat.
We will be continuing to look at shapes in our environment and number recognition to 10 and beyond.
Reception
Our last week of this term we will be exploring how we Reduce, Reuse and Recycle our rubbish. Children will be upcycling household items to make musical instruments, Please may we have cardboard tubes, small plastic bottles, small boxes, yoghurt tubs etc..Can these items be brought in by Monday 19th May.
In maths we will be looking at doubling numbers eg 3 and 3 makes 6, 5 and 5 makes 10.
Please return ALL reading books by Wednesday each week.
Year 1
This week, in Maths, Year 1 will be adding and subtracting and using money to solve word problems. In English, we will be writing colour poems focusing on adjectives and nouns. Monday and Tuesday are DT days...please remember to send in those boxes...thank you. PE days are Tuesday and Friday. Please remember to read with your child and sign their Reading Records. Thank you for your continued support.
Year 2
In English, we are going to write an alternative ending to the story of the little robot.
In Maths, we are going to practise a mixture of skills (column method for adding and subtracting, missing number sentences and multiplication/division) that we covered this term.
Year 3
This week in Year 3, we are using our arithmetic skills to answer questions involving all 4 operations and our times table facts to find fractions of amounts. In English, we are creating a non-fiction text about earthquakes to showcase our learning in geography. Friday is our DT day, we will be creating an air-powered vehicle that we designed last week.
Year 4
We've just had a great week of Science investigations, and Geography. Our final week of the half term brings the summer DT project (making moving vehicles!) IT also brings the conclusions for many of our projects. We are excited to be heading towards our final half term, so when we get there, enjoy your break.
Year 5
In Maths this week, we will be addressing any misconceptions from our tests last week.
Then in English, we are revisiting relative clauses to add even more information to our sentences.
We are also completing our DT projects this week - we are making moving vehicles!
Year 6
This week in year six, we will be continuing our learning around World War Two. We will explore what the blitz was and the impact this had on the citizens of many cities across the UK. We will use our formal writing skills to create a news report after the first significant day and night of bombings. On Thursday, we have our trip to Knole Park - where we will be taking part in four different activities.
