This week we will be exploring mini beasts. Taking inspiration from our minibeast experience last week we are going to look at classification of minibeasts and look at their habitats and what importance minibeasts play in our environment.
In maths we will continue to look at multiplication e.g making 3 groups of 2 bears.
Please ensure you read with your child and return all story books by Wednesday of each week. We can not change your child’s book unless you return it by that day.

Year 1

This week, in Maths, Year 1 will be telling the time to o'clock, half past, quarter past and quarter to the hour.  In English, we will be reading the story 'Somebody swallowed Stanley' and writing main clauses to retell parts of the story.  We will also be making rules, as a whole class, in preparation of the school trip to Broadstairs.  PE days are Tuesday and Friday.  Please read with your children everyday and sign their Reading Records which should be brought into school everyday.  Phonics books will be changed on Thursday.  Thank you for your continued support.

Year 2

In English, we are going to watch a short animation to inspire our writing. We are going to predict what is going to happen, describe settings using expanded noun phrases, conjunctions and emotive language.

In Maths, we are going to solve money and real life addition and subtraction word problems. We will decide if we can solve the number sentences in our heads, use manipulatives (cubes, Dienes, etc.) or if we need to use written methods.

On Friday, 4th July, it is staff training day and the school will be closed for children.

Year 3

This week in Year 3 we are using our calculation skills to order and compare data retrieved from a bar chart in maths and we are creating our own bar graph to display our scientific results after an  investigation into magnetic fields. In science, we will be learning how some animals are affected by magnets and which animals use a magnetic field to navigate.

Children are excited by the London Rocks competition that is for children across schools in London on TTRS.  We would love to win some of the Amazon vouchers so please encourage children to play for upto an hour any time between 07:30 and 19:30 as many days as possible please!    We're also still basking in the glow of Sports Day and now Well being day too!  All of year 4 have discussed what it means to be kind and we're hoping to show off our new found kindness skills!
