This week in Reception we will be exploring building and materials. It is an excellent topic for our children to connect play, exploration and early understanding of the world around them. The children will test materials for strength or building towers for support, predicting, testing and concluding. This will also give the children the opportunity to learn new vocabulary such as  flexible rough, smooth and solid.

In maths we will be exploring addition with in 6.

Please ensure  you read with your child and all reading folders are return each Wednesday.

Year 2

In English, we'll be continuing our work on the past tense. In Maths, we'll be moving on to multiplication and solving these with arrays. On Friday the 14th November we'll be looking at, How Jews show their beliefs and values? This is part of our RE topic for the term.

Year 3

In Maths, we are going to look at times. We are going to read time with increasing accuracy to o'clock, quarter past, half past, quarter to and to the minutes as well.

In English, it is our final week of the story of 'The Wishgranter'. We are going to look at the second part of the story focusing on using another subordinating conjunction (if).

Year 4

In year 4 this week we will be continuing to learn to use short multiplication to multiply numbers up to 10,000 by a one digit number. To help us at home, it is even more important that we are practising our times tables to speed up our multiplication. In English this week, we are going to be revisiting our learning on using subordinate conjunctions. We know a brilliant song to help us remember these: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FK2Gyto5gTQ&list=RDFK2Gyto5gTQ&start_radio=1. In science we are going to be investigating changes of state from solid to liquid to gas and how this changes the properties of a material. Just a reminder that on Thursdays year 4 are continuing to attend swimming lessons and must have a hat and googles to bring to these.

Year 5

This week in Year 5, we are continuing using our English class book 'Barnabus' as a writing stimulus focusing on our sentence openers and using commas to mark clauses. In maths, we are using our times table knowledge and related division facts to divide two, three and even four digit numbers by a single digit number. We will be using Times Table RockStars to improve the speed and accuracy of our recall.

In history, we are looking closely at sources and  artefacts  to deduce information about the Mayan era while we are developing our prior knowledge on forces in science.

Year 6

This week, year six will be looking at one point perspective in art. This involves the children knowing how to use a vanishing point and focal point. In English, we will be exploring the text 'The Wolves in the Walls' where we will be developing our use of emotive language. In RE, we will be continuing our learning around Buddhas.
