Reception

This week we will continue to look at Christmas and how it’s celebrated around the world.

In maths we will be consolidating work on 2D and 3D shapes and exploring these within the environment.

Please continue to read daily with your child. We are finding this is making a big impact.

We would like to thank you all for your continued support this term in Reception Class.

Year 1

This week in Maths, Year 1 will be consolidating their learning and completing adding and subtracting calculations, shape, filling in missing numbers and telling time.  In English, Year 1 will be writing a letter to Santa Clause and making Christmas cards and writing a message inside the cards.  We will be having other fun Christmas activities throughout the day.  We will be having a Christmas Party on Thursday and the children are able to bring school snacks of their choice for this (please remember no nut products).

The Year 1 Team wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Year 2

In English, we'll be doing Christmas comprehension and writing a letter.
In Maths, we'll be moving on to shape and towards the end of the week we will be doing Christmas activities.

We wish you a great half term holiday and we are looking forward to welcoming the children back on Tuesday 6th January.

Year 4

Year 5

This week in Year 5, we will be having a history day. We will be making our own Mayan masks and headdresses, enjoying some Maya music and learning to use hieroglyphics to write our names and a message to a friend. This is not a dress up day but will be an immersive day of Mayan culture and learning. In maths, we will be showcasing our arithmetic skills and solving some Christmas related maths problems.

Year 6

This week, we will be finishing our book - The Wolves in the Wall. We will be predicting, based on evidence from the text, what the wolves and the family might do next. We will be using role-play to help us write a conversation with action between the family on what to do next. In maths, all of our application questions will be linked to Christmas and will involve us using the four main operations. Our half termly spelling test will be on Monday. The year six team would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very Happy Christmas and a Happy New Year.
