Week beginning: 2nd March

Nursery

 This week in Nursery, we are exploring the magnificent mammals of the rainforest! We will be discovering some very special creatures—from the world’s biggest rodent to the sleek, spotted jaguar. We’ll be looking at how big or small these animals are and what they love to munch on for lunch!  

Reception

This week we will continue with our topic on Dinosaurs and how they became extinct.

In maths we will focus on number patterns within 15.

Please continue to practise with your child's letter and number formation. If you need any support on this please let us know.

Reading is an important part of your child's learning, please continue to read every day and return the books on a Wednesday morning. Friday is World Book Day, this is a time for your  child to dress up as their  favourite book character.

Eggciting news!!!!  We are having 5 new editions to our Reception Class...... Can you guess?

Year 1

This week, in English, Year 1 will be making a wanted poster, using descriptive language, to help find a friend for the Lonely Beast.  In Maths, we will be describing and comparing the weight of different objects to see which object is the heaviest / lightest.

PE days are Tuesdays and Wednesdays.  Phonic books will be changed on Thursday,  Please sign Reading Records everyday.  Thank you for your continued support.

Year 2

In English, we'll be introducing the 'when' conjunction into our writing.

In Maths, we'll be going over all four operations (addition, subtraction, division and multiplication).

On Friday 6th March, Gray's Farm will be celebrating World Book Day. Children can dress up in their favourite book character.

Year 3

In English, we are going to recap on inverted commas and how to use them in our writing.

In Maths, we are going to work on Fractions.

Friday, 6th March is World Book Day.

Year 4

In year 4 this week we are returning to non-fiction writing. We will be writing persuasively about visiting Africa, using possessive apostrophes and a variety of sentence types within our writing. In maths this week, Miss Wigfield's group will be continuing to learn to use the bus stop method for division, moving onto working with questions including remainders. Mrs O'Brien's group will be learning to order fractions and find fractions of a number.

Year 5

In Maths, we are continuing with calculation, including percentages. In English, we will be writing linked to our curriculum topics, thinking about applying our scientific understanding and vocabulary and exploring a story based on an Anglo-Saxon boy. 

Year 6

This week, in year six we will be learning about what it meant to be conscripted during World War 2. We will understand the impact that this had on the conscripted person and their families. In maths, we are all fine-tuning our arithmetic skills and working on strategies to increase our accuracy and speed. During our writing lessons, we will be looking at comparing characters within a text. This will include their appearance, personality and traits.
