This week at Gray's Farm - W/B 29th June

Week beginning: 29th June
Nursery
This week in nursery we are continuing our "Rock Pools and Beaches" theme! We'll be learning about water safety, revisiting shapes and numbers, and reading Sand, Sea, and Me. Plus, the children will get creative making their own rock pools out of tyres and bin liners.
Reception
This week in Reception Class we will continue to explore the exciting topic of Under the Sea. Through stories, discussions, creative activities, the children will discover different sea creatures, their habitats and the importance of looking after our oceans. As we could not go ahead with our Pirate dress up day due to extreme heat conditions we have now scheduled a new date for Monday 6th July 2026.
In maths we will begin to estimate the lengths of objects and then compare and order them, we will then move onto measuring objects using non standard units using language related to measure accurately.
Year 1
This week is test week and the children will be completing maths and english tests. Careers Day is Thursday and the children can dress up as the person they aspire to be. PE days are still Tuesday and Wednesday. Please sign your child's Reading Record every day. Phonics books will be changed on Thursday.
Thank you for your continued support.
Year 2
Next week we will be completing our tests in Maths and English, we will also be starting a retell of Pip the Guide Dog.
Wellbeing Day on Thursday is focusing on different careers and Inset Day on Friday.
Please remember PE is on Wednesday and Thursday.
Year 3
In English, we are going to still write a newspaper report of our Sports Day.
In Maths, we are still going to practise the new methods we learnt in Year 3 to solve calculations more efficiently.
On Thursday, 2nd July, it is Career day and children are invited to dress as the career they would like to have in the future.
On Friday, 3rd July, it is Inset Day and the school is closed for children.
Year 4
We have really missed year 4 this week and next week we will be catching up on all the things we couldn't get done. Next week, year 4 are excited to complete their final NTS papers of the year to get a chance to show off all of the amazing progress they have made. Year 4 we are so proud of how hard you have worked this year, well done! In our writing this week, year 4 will spend most of the week writing our own fairytales. We will be applying our learning of suffixes, speech punctuation and expanded noun phrases to construct amazing writing.
Year 5
This week in Year 5, we are using parenthesis to add new and relevant information to our sentences. We will be marking our clauses with commas, brackets and dashes. In maths, our focus will be word problems; identify the operation required and choosing the most effective method of calculation.
Year 6
This week in year six, let's just say that with the hot weather last week the production rehearsals had to be put on hold. Obviously, this week there will be full-on rehearsals Monday morning and all day Tuesday in preparation for the big event on Thursday (apologies for having to change the Tuesday performance). Don't forget Wednesday is bowling - lunch is provided and Thursday we have First Aid or The Great Gray's Farm Bake Off!
