Week beginning: 6th July

Nursery

We are focusing on transitioning into nursery and helping the children get ready for some exciting changes. Bigger Peer Groups,Learning to share, take turns, and resolve minor conflicts more independently.New Teachers & Rules, Building trust with new staff and learning to adapt to different classroom rules. Managing Energy & Emotions, Coping with a more structured day and learning to talk through fatigue or frustration. 

How you can help at home: Talk positively about Reception and chat about how rules can be slightly different in a new class.

Reception

In Reception Class this week, we will be learning about knights and castles. Exploring this topic,  the children will have an understanding of the past. We shall be learning about  homes, clothing, transport and jobs  knights did long ago.

In maths we will be learning about measure, e.g comparing volume of liquids in different containers, comparing weight of objects and comparing objects by ordering lengths.

Please ensure you continue to practise letter formation with your child to ensure  that they have a great start in Year 1.

Year 1

This week, in Maths, Year 1 will be learning coin values and how to make different amounts of money.  In English, we will be reading the story 'who swallowed Stanley' and writing main clauses, including adjectives.  PE days are Tuesdays and Wednesdays.  Phonics books are changed on Thursday,  Thank you for your continued support.

Year 2

This week in Maths, we will be doing multiplication and division.

In English, we will be retelling the story of Pip a guide dog who goes to training school.

Year 3

In Maths, we are going to measure the length of straight lines with a ruler. We will also be calculating the perimeter of 2D shapes.

In English, we are going to consolidate all the skills that we have learnt this year.

Year 4

Year 4 are very excited to find out their year 5 teachers next week! In English next week, we will be putting the finishing touches to our fairytales. In maths, Miss Wigfield's group will be learning to apply our known times tables to multiply by tens and hundreds, and using this to solve problems including the inverse. Mrs O'Brien's group will also be learning to use inverse operations to solve problems.

Year 5

This week in Year 5, we will be showcasing our maths skills during our transition day and will be continuing to identify the operation required to solve a variety of problems. In English, we will be writing a recount of our amazing day at the Ragged School  and a diary entry as a Victorian child. 

Year 6

Well it's going to be a slightly different week in year six as most of the children will be doing their transition day to their new school on Tuesday. On Wednesday, the children will be having a fun games morning with Mr Morris and Miss Adam. We will be continuing our learning on who is the most influential British scientist.
