NURSERY

In nursery from the beginning of next week we will be looking at road safety. With the increase in traffic with the run up to Christmas we will be talking to the children about keeping safe. Children will have the opportunity to role play both inside and outside, We will set up a play road for them to act out scenarios. We shall be making various height ramps to see which car travels the fastest. Children will be involved in stop start games, red stop. green go.

A gentle reminder that on Friday 15th December is Christmas jumper Day.

RECEPTION

This week we are concluding our work on The Jolly Christmas Postman. We will be recapping all taught sounds in Phonics, and continuing with addition in Mathematics. Please try to come along to the Open Afternoon on Monday from 2:00, when you can see your child’s book and their classroom.

On Tuesday we will be having our dress rehearsal for the Nativity in front of KS2. Please make sure all costumes ( plain black top and bottoms) are in by then! On Wednesday at 2:00 you are invited to our Wriggly Nativity, or on Thursday at 10:00am.

If your child would like to wear a Christmas themed jumper or t-shirt on Friday, and donate a voluntary £1, we are joining in Save The Children’s charity fund raising. Advance warning: we will be having a Christmas party in the classes on the final Wednesday, 20th December. Please sign up for which food/ drink you would like to donate. Thank you.

YEAR 1

In maths we will be reviewing our number bonds to 10 and 20.

In English we will be writing our own stories about Santa’s journey around the world

YEAR 2

This week we learning all about measuring using rulers, scales and jugs! In English, we will be using our skills to help our Elf visitor who is living in our classroom. We can't wait for our space wow day on Friday! We hope to see you there!

YEAR 3

Maths: We are doing a maths test to assess the new learning we have introduced this term. Then we will be continuing our work on Measure by finding the perimeter of regular and irregular shapes.

English: We will be writing letters, focusing on using all the language skills we have been developing recently.

Topic: To finish our Stone Age topic, we will be planning and building our own Stone Age settlements. Please can children bring in a cardboard cereal or shoe box to use.

Science: We will be investigating the properties of different soils.

YEAR 4

This week in Maths in Year 4 we are going to look at Symmetry and Coordinates.

In English we are going to publish our own 'Tuesday' book and look at the story of the Snowman and write a recount of it.

YEAR 5

In maths, we will be finishing our shape learning for this half term and starting to get in the festive mood by recapping our learning so far with Christmas-themed questions.

For English, we will continue our work around ‘A Christmas Carol’ which the children (and the adults!) are really enjoying.

In computing, the children will finish their virtual prototypes of their toy and pitch their idea to the class.

YEAR 6

Year 6 will be writing newspaper articles in English. we will be attending Cleeve Park Secondary school to watch their performance of Joesph and his technicolour Dreamcoat.
