If you need further advice on these points, please contact me using the details below.

What is Bikeability?

Bikeability courses are designed to train children to cycle on the road safely and with confidence, so that they can go on to make independent on-road journeys. Bikeability consists of two levels and takes places over a day and a half.

  • Level One – registration to break

This is an off road assessment where the pupils will practise basic skills such as use of gears, stopping quickly with control, manoeuvring safely to avoid objects, looking all around including behind without wobbling and signalling with control. Children must complete level one in order to progress onto level two.

  • Level Two – break to end of day one. Day two - registration to lunchtime

This takes place on quieter local roads at locations that have been risk assessed. Children are able to use the above skills via a range practical exercises and assessments. Results and feedback are given to all pupils with successful delegates receiving Bikeability badges. More information can be found on our website, address below.

Please note that Level Three courses are only available from Year 7 onwards and we offer these courses at most Secondary schools in the borough.
