This week at Gray's Farm - WB 20/05
Week Beginning: 20 May 2019
For the theme this week we will be looking at colours, 2D and 3D shapes, recognising and ordering numbers. For the four days before the half term, there will be no focus book, however, our stories for that week will be based around the sub topics above.
Please keep sharing your adventures and observations on tapestry, the children get so excited sharing their experiences.
This week I Reception we will be learning about dinosaurs as well as continuing our learning about space. We will be linking the two topics and exploring the story “Dinosaur Rocket.”
In Maths we are going to be subtracting using our subtraction machine. We will be taking a smaller amount from a larger amount!
A polite reminder that on Thursday 23rd May it is an inset day due to the school being used as a polling station.
In English we will focussing on capital letters, end marks and the use of ‘and’ to join clauses.
In Maths we will be learning to tell the time for o’clock and half past.
In Maths, Year Two are continuing to look at multiplication and division but are doing this in the context of money. Get your coins out at home to see if your children can solve problems like: ‘How many 10ps are in £2?’ or ‘If I buy 6 apples for 20p each, how much will I spend?’ In English we are reading ‘The Owl Who Was Afraid Of The Dark’ and using conjunctions and noun phrases to write about him.
