NURSERY

In nursery this week we will continue our theme of “People who help us”

We shall be exploring the role of doctors and nurses what their roles are, how we can keep ourselves safe and well through exercise, healthy eating and talking about any worries (healthy minds).

Please check the board outside nursery for daily updates.

RECEPTION

This week in Reception the children will be continuing to look at the topic of our bodies by thinking about what we should eat to keep healthy. They will be making their own sandwiches and then writing the instructions on how to do this. They will also be tasting different types of vegetables. In Maths, the children will be continuing to practise finding the total of two groups by counting on from the first group.

YEAR 1

In Maths, we are going to subtract a one digit number from a two digit number using number lines. We are going to solve subtraction word problems and some reasoning questions. Towards the end of the week, we are going to solve a mixture of addition and subtraction number sentences and word problems.

In English, we are going to write a diary entry using noun phrases and conjunctions to extend our main clauses and to make our writing more interesting.

YEAR 2

This week in English, we will be planning our own stories linked to a picture. We will be focusing on verbs (a doing word) and adverbs (adjectives that describe the verb) e.g. The fish swam quickly away from the shark.

This week in Maths is times table week - we're very excited to see the different activities that Mrs Springate has planned for us! Year 2 will be focusing on our 5 times tables.

YEAR 3

This week, Year 3 will continue to learn how to use speech punctuation effectively using previously learned punctuation skills to produce a bigger piece of writing.

In Maths, we will be focussing on using the compact addition and subtraction methods. We will also be heavily focussing on our times tables to increase mathematical awareness and progress in all areas of the maths curriculum.

We will be continuing our Plants Science topic and The stone age in History.

Pe will be on Wednesdays and Thursdays for Year 3 so children may come in wearing their PE School PE KITS on these days.

YEAR 4

This week in Maths, Year 4 will be working on our calculation strategies for the four operations.  In English, we will be writing a newspaper report, linked to our History topic.  The skill we will be practising is inverted commas.  We will be beginning our History topic on the Romans and our Science topic will be all about sound.  Don't forget PE is Monday and swimming is Thursday.

YEAR 5

In year 5 we will be starting a new book, in our English lessons, based around our History topic. In Maths, we are multiplying 2 and 3 digit numbers using the column method. In Science, we are learning the stage of development of a fetus and in History, we are learning about the Anglo-Saxon life in Britain.

YEAR 6

In year six, we will be learning about the impact that WW2 had on people's lives. We will be exploring what it was like to be an eighteen year old young man who had been conscripted for war. In science, we will be beginning our learning on classifying living and non-living things.
