We have also had some amazing videos and photos of children learning and writing their sounds on tapestry.

YEAR 1

In English, we are still going to read the book 'On the way home' by Oliver Jeffers. Children will be role playing the scene of the story when the little boy is stuck on the moon and how he could get down. We will be writing noun phrases and main clauses to describe an alien.

In Maths, we are going to look at how to subtract. We will introduce the symbol '-' and how to read a subtraction number sentence. We will be using manipulatives to subtract a one digit number from a one digit number (e.g. 6 cubes- 3 cubes = 3 cubes). Towards the end of the week, we will also be looking at how to subtract a one digit number from a two digit number (e.g. 15 - 2=13)  using different resources.

YEAR 2

This week, Year 2 will be starting a new book in English, Goodbye Summer, Hello Autumn. In Maths, we will be learning to divide using arrays. In our Science lessons, we will be explaining why certain animals live in their own habitats and in Geography, we will be looking at the weather on the different continents.

YEAR 3

This week in year 3 we will be creating our own non fiction text in English. As well as this, we will be beginning a new topic in maths by looking at division. Finally, (and very excitingly) we will be starting our DT project for the term which is making a pasta salad! This means we will be tasting different ingredients to help us decide which we want to include in our final product!

YEAR 4

In Maths this week, we will be recapping the children's year 3 division knowledge.

In English this week, we will be focusing on imperative (bossy) verbs when writing a set of instructions linked to our DT projects.

Reminder: Year 4 will be doing their Science Learning Walk on Tuesday 3rd in the afternoon. Children are more than welcome to wear their PE on Tuesday so that they are more comfortable.

YEAR 5

This week in Year 5, we are really looking forward to making the burgers that we have designed on our DT day on Tuesday. We will be continuing showcasing our use of relative clauses and fronted adverbial phrases in our English lessons using the book 'The Ice Dragon'. In maths, we will remain focused on division, using our times table facts to support our calculations.

YEAR 6

This week, we will be making and evaluating the new flavoured burger that we have created in DT. In science, we will be using a classification key to group the different leaves that are found in our school environment.
