We will be using a toy dinosaur to explore prepositions like under, on top and behind, Children have now started their READ WRITE INC phonics and doing well, please continue to watch the supporting videos and practice at home, remember there are also fun activities that you can do to support each letter sound.

In Reception this week we are continuing our topic of 'Our Bodies' by looking at healthy eating and diets, and why exercise is important for us.  We will be making and writing about our own fruit kebabs. In Maths we are continuing to practise our adding skills by adding two groups of objects together by counting on from the first group.

In English, we are going to spend another week on 'The Storm Whale' book. We will be using our emotive language to describe the feelings of the different characters. We will also be writing a diary entry using noun phrases and conjunctions such as 'and, because' to extend our main clauses.

In Maths, we are going to subtract a one digit number from a two digit number using cubes and numbered or empty number lines. We will also be solving word problems including addition and subtraction number sentences.

On Friday, 3rd March, it is Gray's Farm's World Book Day and children are welcomed to dress up as a Little Miss or Mr character.

In English this week, we will start a new book called 'The Pirates Next Door'. We will be using role play to explore how the characters are feeling. Although we have learnt about apostrophes before (for contractions), we will begin to learn how to use an apostrophe for possession this week! In maths we will be working with money and learning how to add and subtract it. We are also VERY excited for World Book Day on Friday and would ask that your child bring in a cardboard box for an activity we will be doing on the day - cereal box size is about perfect! Thank you! Finally, as you may have noticed we are very lucky to have Miss Smith joining us in 3 Ash. Miss Smith is a student teacher and will be working alongside Mrs Smith and Mrs Bell. Miss Smith is a fantastic addition to the team and we know the children will benefit from having her join the Year 3 Team!

In English this week, we will be continuing with 'Escape from Pompeii'. The children now know the story and this week we will be writing directed speech linked to the story. Our writing outcome for the week will be a newspaper report.

In Maths this week, we will be focusing on recapping our previous calculation methods. We will also be moving onto adding, subtracting and multiplying decimals.

Reminder: Friday (3rd) is World Book Day. Our school theme is Little Miss characters but this is optional! We're looking forward to seeing your costumes. Can you guess who your Year 4 teachers will be?

This week in Year 5, we are focusing on our multiplication and division skills, using our times table knowledge in a formal written method of calculation. In English, we are using a variety of punctuation, including apostrophes for possession, in our writing.
