Week Beginning: 18th March 2024

NURSERY

This week in Nursery we will be celebrating Easter /Spring. The children will be going on an egg hunt and will have to look out for the phonic sound that matches the correct  picture.

We will also be making biscuits and with adult support  they will be following a recipe and measuring the ingredients. They will also have the opportunity to decorator their biscuits to bring home. 

RECEPTION

In Reception Class this week we will be looking at the Christian festival of  Easter. The children will be taking part in Easter arts and crafts and use their phonic knowledge in their writing about Easter. In maths we will be exploring 3D shapes, looking at vertices, faces and edges and using these 3D shapes to make a trap for the Easter rabbit relating to our story of "How to catch the Easter Bunny".

YEAR 1

This week in Maths, Year 1 will be making amounts using coins and solving worded problems using money.  In English, Year 1 will be retelling the story of The Enormous Turnip using main clauses and writing instructions on how to plant seeds (linked to science).

YEAR 2

Year 2 are going to be writing about guide dogs in English. In Maths, we are learning about graphs. In Science, we will be looking at how our plants have grown. In History, we will learn about Florence Nightingale and in RE, we will be learning about how Sikh's view about humans. 

YEAR 3

This week in year 3, we will be looking at time in maths and working out how to tell the time to the nearest minute. In English, we will be learning the difference between writing in present and past tense. 

YEAR 4

This week in English, we will be continuing with our descriptive writing, using expanded noun phrases. We will be including these in our retell and also writing our own alternative ending. 

This week in Maths, we will be looking at statistics. The children will be comparing discrete and continuous data. We will also be collecting our own data before making our own chart.  

YEAR 5

 

This week in Year 5, we will be revisiting measure. We will be looking at converting between units (ml to l), perimeter and area. In English, we will be starting a new piece of work on our class book, Anglo-Saxon Boy. In science, we will be investigating how adding different substances can change a reaction. In history, we will be creating our own Wikipedia entry on King Canute.

YEAR 6

This week, we will be having three revision maths tests - these will be on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. In English, we are turning our television news report into a newspaper report. We will be demonstrating the skills needed to be a good journalist. During our science lesson, we will be observing fossils and learning about the process involved in fossilisation.
